A Family-Filled Weekend

Image
This weekend was much needed, not only because I got a break from classes and homework but also because I was able to see family that I haven't seen in a long time! I am one of the youngest on both sides of my family, so many of my aunts, uncles and cousins have moved away from the area, so it's always nice when we can get together again! My weekend started off busy, having to work both Friday and Saturday. Friday night, I worked the home women's basketball game, which was the first of the season. Basketball is my favorite sport, so I'm glad it's finally basketball season again! ONU won 77-49, so it was a great game to work! After the game, my roommate and I watched a couple episodes of "Friends" before calling it a night. Saturday afternoon I worked the women's soccer OAC Finals game. ONU won, which means they are OAC Champions and have an automatic bid into the NCAA III Tournament! The men's soccer team didn't earn an automatic bid into the N...

Marketing with YouTube

Image
YouTube is the world's most popular online video sharing site and the second most visited site in the world, behind Google. YouTube has over 2.49 billion monthly active users who watch over 5 billion videos on the platform daily. Based on those facts alone, YouTube is a great social media platform for marketers. However, you need to know how to correctly market on YouTube in order for it to be effective. In today's day and age, audiences demand visual content over any other type of content. Just think, would you rather read a how-to article or watch a how-to video? Most everyone would prefer a video so you can actually watch how to do something. Today's generations also have much shorter attention spans and spent much of their time on mobile devices. This is why it is so important for marketers to adapt to this trend by producing engaging video content for their audiences. In fact, many businesses have already accommodated for this change. Studies show that 81% of businesse...

Halloweekend!

Image
I had been looking forward to this weekend for a while and it finally came, Halloweekend! Halloween isn't my favorite holiday but I still love being able to dress up and have fun. One of my favorite parts about Halloween is seeing everyone else's costumes, because some people come up with funny ones. This year, my friend and I decided to go as Abraham Lincoln and John Wilkes Boothe! I saw the idea on TikTok last year, so we have had this planned for a year now. I think it's so funny, so I have been looking forward to this weekend for a long time! My weekend started off slow on Friday night, I just hung out in my apartment with my friend and watched some movies. Saturday, I worked the men's soccer game. It was a very exciting game because it was close the whole time but we scored with just a minute left to win! And the same guy scored all three of our goals for a hat trick, so it was really cool! After the game, I wrote the game recap for the men's and women's ga...

LinkedIn is one of the best platforms for professionals to stay connected and informed, apply for jobs, advance their careers and interact with businesses, recruiters, colleagues and customers worldwide. LinkedIn has many different components on their platform, including pages. One of the main pages that you can make on LinkedIn is a Company Page. A LinkedIn Company Page is the first place users will go to learn about and interact with a certain company. Creating a company page is a great way to build brand awareness, engage with employees and customers, foster engagement and attract and interact with a target audience. It is also a great place for people to gain insight into what life is like inside a certain company and to search for and apply for jobs posted directly to their LinkedIn Company Page. Busy Weekends vs. Lazy Weekends

For me, I feel like there are only two kinds of weekends when I'm at college: busy weekends and lazy weekends. Obviously busy weekends are exactly how they sound, you feel like you constantly have to be somewhere or have something to do. Lazy weekends are the opposite, they're not necessarily boring but you have nothing that you need to do, which is nice. Most of my weekends this semester have been busy, but this weekend, I finally had a lazy weekend. There was only one thing that I had to do all weekend and that was work the men's soccer game on Saturday afternoon. After the game, I came back to my apartment to write the men's and women's soccer recaps, then I laid on the couch watching "Friends" the rest of the afternoon. For supper, my roommate and I ordered a pizza from Viva Maria's, which we think is the best pizza place in Ada. After eating, I went to my friend's dorm to hang out with her since I hadn't seen her all day. Sunday morning, I...

Pinterest Marketing Success Stories

Image
On any social media platform, there are always going to be certain brands and businesses that go above and beyond in their marketing efforts to get the best results. These companies pay close attention to their marketing strategies and perform social media audits to determine what is working well for them and what is not. The following businesses have found success in their marketing strategies on Pinterest. The first business that has found marketing success using Pinterest is Gatorade. Gatorade wanted to help their existing audience stay interested and inspired, all while reaching new audiences as well. In order to do this, they teamed up with four of Pinterest's most popular fitness creators to create Idea Ads that provided workout inspiration and reminded people to stay hydrated. Two of the creators they partnered with were VeraLaRo and Domonique Panton. The creators also filmed themselves doing inspiring workouts and utilizing healthy living routines with Gatorade, Gatorade wa...

A Weekend All Over Ohio

Image
This weekend was a busy one for me because I had to travel all over Ohio. In the span of two days, I traveled from Ohio Northern to my hometown, Stryker, which is an hour-and-a-half north, back to ONU, then to Dayton Sunday for a Club Softball game. It was tiring but I had a lot of fun, so it was all worth it! Saturday I was able to sleep in, which was nice after a busy week of work and classes. After relaxing for a while watching "Friends," I went to work the women's soccer game. It was a close game but we ended up losing 2-1. After the game was over and I finished the game recap, I left right away to go home for my brother's football game because it was his senior night. The game was moved from 7 p.m. to 6 p.m., meaning I had less time to get home. I got home just before 5 p.m. so I only had a couple minutes to change before heading up to the football field to make sure we got good seats. Senior night was really weird because I definitely do not think of my brother ...
