Why Blogs Will Upgrade Your Marketing Strategies

When I think of a blog, the first thing that comes to mind is the Disney show "Dog with a Blog." The show is exactly what it sounds like, a family adopts a dog named Stan, and the siblings soon find out that he can talk and write. He kept a blog that included stories about the daily life of his family, and usually had some sort of life lesson that the kids had learned that day. While this is an entertaining show for kids, blogs can be used for much more than just writing about your everyday life.

The first blog was created in 1994 by a college student named Justin Hall. In his blog, he shared his thoughts, opinions and photos from his personal life. After that, the popularity of blogs soared, and as a result, millions of people are now writing and reading blogs of all kinds. In fact, 77% of internet users read blogs. The reason is because you can find blogs about anything from arts and crafts to politics and education. The top 5 most popular types of blogs today are fashion, food, travel, beauty and music. There are also a wide variety of blogging platforms, such as WordPress, Wix, Blogger and Tumblr.

Due to the rising popularity in blogs, they have become a staple in many company's marketing strategies. In fact, according to Zippia, 55% of marketers say blog content creation is their top inbound marketing priority. There are many reasons why blogging will upgrade your marketing strategies:
  • Blogging reaches a large audience; therefore, you can increase your brand awareness to a larger group of people.
  • Having a blog can humanize the brand, so more people may be able to relate themselves to your brand.
  • Blogs are a great way to facilitate word-of-mouth marketing because many people will see it and then be able to share the information.
  • Keeping a blog is an easy way to keep customers in the loop of new industry trends or company products and services.
  • Anyone from around the world is able to read and respond to your blog, creating meaningful and shareable conversations with real customers.
  • Search engines rank blog posts higher in search results, which makes a brand's blog content more discoverable than anything else.
These are just a few of the main reasons why keeping a blog will upgrade your marketing strategies, there are also many others. So, the next time you want to promote something, like a brand or product, starting a blog is the way to go.

  1. As I've been introduced to blogging, I have learned how important of a resource it is as a content creator. The humanization aspect of a blog I think is crucial to having a business or influence that is meaningful to others. By giving yourself a layer of personality you give people reasons to connect with you on a more personal level, which is far more beneficial for you than just selling something to a customer or getting a like on a post.
