A Family-Filled Weekend

This weekend was much needed, not only because I got a break from classes and homework but also because I was able to see family that I haven't seen in a long time! I am one of the youngest on both sides of my family, so many of my aunts, uncles and cousins have moved away from the area, so it's always nice when we can get together again!

My weekend started off busy, having to work both Friday and Saturday. Friday night, I worked the home women's basketball game, which was the first of the season. Basketball is my favorite sport, so I'm glad it's finally basketball season again! ONU won 77-49, so it was a great game to work! After the game, my roommate and I watched a couple episodes of "Friends" before calling it a night. Saturday afternoon I worked the women's soccer OAC Finals game. ONU won, which means they are OAC Champions and have an automatic bid into the NCAA III Tournament! The men's soccer team didn't earn an automatic bid into the NCAA III Tournament but they still made it because they were ranked high enough! So, both the men's and women's team are in the tournament and play Saturday, which is awesome!

After the game Saturday, I picked up my older sister, Kinsey, from Bluffton, where she is a senior at the University. We then headed home for the rest of the weekend. Saturday night was spent chilling at home and catching up with my family. I hadn't been home or talked to my family for a couple of weeks, so I had a lot to tell them! We had cheeseburgers for supper on our new grill, which is one of my favorite meals my parents make! I have never had a better cheeseburger than the ones they make! My mom also took pictures of my sister, younger brother and I for our Christmas card of us in our school shirts!

Sunday morning, I went to church with my family. Then, in the afternoon, we got together with my whole dad's side of the family. There was 31 of us total, not counting one of my cousins and his wife that could not make it. We took some family pictures because I do not know the last time we have taken a picture with our whole family. Then afterward, we had some food and hung out for a while. I played the game Code Names with my sister and some of my cousins that I had not seen in over a year or two! I also got to meet my new baby cousin, Indi, for the first time! She is one of the cutest babies I have ever seen! It was really fun to catch up with them and see everyone in one place again! I'm sure it was especially great for my grandma to see everyone again.

Sunday night, my sister and I headed back to college. The weekend went way too fast and although I was only home for about 24 hours, it was still a great time with my family!

  1. Sounds like a great weekend! Catching up with family, working at some ONU games and those homemade cheeseburgers all sound amazing. There's nothing like spending time with loved ones after being apart for a while!
