ONU Homecoming Weekend

This weekend was Homecoming at Ohio Northern University, so there were many different events happening and the campus was very busy. One of my favorite Homecoming events every year is the ONU Homecoming Parade. The parade features many different clubs and organizations at Ohio Northern, such as Polar Paws, sororities and fraternities, as well as the Homecoming Court, President Melissa Baumann and our mascot Klondike. This year, I live-tweeted from the Homecoming Parade to keep my followers in the loop of what was happening during the parade.


Ever since I was young, I have loved going to parades. Every year, my family would go to the same parade on the Fourth of July and it was always a fun tradition for us to look forward to every year. My high school also had a Homecoming Parade every year that also included many fun carnival games, bouncy houses and food. Parades have always been a fun part of my childhood, so anytime I have the chance to go to a parade now I always go.

The rest of Homecoming Weekend was fun as well. After the Homecoming Parade, I went to the Homecoming Tent and walked around for a little bit and got a free polar bear stress ball and ONU headband. After that, I worked the women's soccer game, but unfortunately, we lost 3-0. Afterwards, I watched the second half of the football game where we won 59-3. It was a very fun and exciting game to watch to wrap up a good Homecoming Weekend!

    I had never attended the Homecoming Parade since my time here, so I decided to switch things up and attend this event so I could live-tweet about it as well! I also grew up attending parades, with my town putting on a Halloween Parade every year. I also attended the Football game, and with the Polar Bear win, it definitely ended the homecoming weekend with a bang and kept the school spirit high! As my last year at Ohio Northern, this weekend was one to remember!

    I'm so glad you enjoyed the parade! I've been every year except this year, always helping out with capturing the moment with videos and pictures! It sucks that the women's team lost but it won't be long until they secure another win!

I had been looking forward to this weekend for a while and it finally came, Halloweekend! Halloween isn't my favorite holiday but I still love being able to dress up and have fun. One of my favorite parts about Halloween is seeing everyone else's costumes, because some people come up with funny ones. Thanksgiving Break

I feel like I have been going nonstop since the start of the semester, so Thanksgiving break was a much-needed time to relax and not worry about classes or work for a while! Over the break, I was able to travel to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina with my friend, Kennedy, and her dad, Tim, to visit Tim's aunt and uncle, Joyce and Jerry. I also went to Hilton Head with her over spring break last semester, so it was nice to go back! Tuesday, we spent the whole day driving. We left at 6 a.m. and didn't get to their house until 9 p.m. because there was a lot of traffic. When we got there, Joyce had made us chicken noodle soup and grilled cheese, so we caught up with them while we were eating. Since we woke up early that morning and had spent all day in the car, I slept so good that night and didn't wake up until 10:30 Wednesday morning. A Family-Filled Weekend

This weekend was much needed, not only because I got a break from classes and homework but also because I was able to see family that I haven't seen in a long time! I am one of the youngest on both sides of my family, so many of my aunts, uncles and cousins have moved away from the area, so it's always nice when we can get together again! My weekend started off busy, having to work both Friday and Saturday. Friday night, I worked the home women's basketball game, which was the first of the season. Basketball is my favorite sport, so I'm glad it's finally basketball season again! ONU won 77-49, so it was a great game to work! After the game, my roommate and I watched a couple episodes of "Friends" before calling it a night. Saturday afternoon I worked the women's soccer OAC Finals game.
