Thanksgiving Break
I feel like I have been going nonstop since the start of the semester, so Thanksgiving break was a much-needed time to relax and not worry about classes or work for a while! Over the break, I was able to travel to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina with my friend, Kennedy, and her dad, Tim, to visit Tim's aunt and uncle, Joyce and Jerry. I also went to Hilton Head with her over spring break last semester, so it was nice to go back!
Tuesday, we spent the whole day driving. We left at 6 a.m. and didn't get to their house until 9 p.m. because there was a lot of traffic. When we got there, Joyce had made us chicken noodle soup and grilled cheese, so we caught up with them while we were eating. Since we woke up early that morning and had spent all day in the car, I slept so good that night and didn't wake up until 10:30 Wednesday morning.
Wednesday after we got ready, we rode their bikes to Duck Donuts, which has the best donuts I've ever had. I'm not a huge fan of donuts, but theirs are so soft they taste more like cake than donuts! I got a cinnamon bun donut, which had cinnamon sugar and icing on it. Later that afternoon, we went to the beach. The water was very cold, so we just walked along the shore.
Thursday was Tim's birthday, so Kennedy and I rode the bikes to Dollar Tree because I needed to get him a card and we needed candles for the birthday cake we had made. Then, in the afternoon, we had Thanksgiving dinner, which was turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, sweet potatoes and a slice of cherry pie. It was all so good and the rest of the day was spent sitting on the couch watching football. Later that night, we had a birthday celebration for Tim with cake and ice cream.
Friday, Kennedy and I got up early to go with Joyce to her yoga class. I was worried I was going to be shown up by a bunch of old ladies, but it was pretty laid back since it was the day after Thanksgiving. It was a lot of fun and I felt very energized after the class. After having leftover turkey for lunch, we went Black Friday shopping at some of the shops around the island. Later that evening, we went out to an Italian restaurant for supper, then went back to the house to have leftover cake and ice cream.
Saturday was our last full day in Hilton Head, so we were going to wake up early but we ended up sleeping in until 10 a.m. We watched the Ohio State-Michigan game and, since I'm an Ohio State fan, I don't want to talk about it. After the game Kennedy and I rode the bikes to get ice cream and go to some shops that we hadn't been to yet. After coming back, we had spaghetti for supper and spent the rest of the evening packing up our things.
Sunday morning we left at 5 a.m. and we got back around 7 p.m. Luckily, there wasn't as much traffic and the drive seemed to go a lot quicker than the way down. Overall, I had a very fun and relaxing week before the stress of finals hits!

Sounds like a well needed and amazing reprise in the busy semester! I am also an Ohio State fan and had a very sour taste in my mouth after that game. Other than that speed-bump and the long drive it sounds like you had a great break this semester!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you guys had fun! I've never been to Hilton Head Island, but it looks beautiful, according to the photos you have posted. While you don't seem happy about the game, I'm a BIG Michigan fan, so it was a great day for me personally! GO WOLVERINES!!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like the best break ever! I love Hilton Head, it’s such a beautiful place to visit and definitely one of my favorites. I bet it was really nice getting away from the icy cold winds of the tundra and I’m so jealous! Yoga is one of my favorite things to do, but there are definitely some old ladies that can put me to shame.
